Older programmers sometimes mention how much they have to read nowadays, just to keep up. However, this is the case because experienced programmers are so busy not writing code, but refactoring and getting rid of it. New programmers say "oh goody, a computer" and write a bunch of well-intentioned practice code, sometimes for clients. Should code that a programmer writes ever get used, heaven forbid, it becomes the onerous task of the older programmers to find out how to get rid of it.
